"THE (POSSIBLY) MOST CELEBRATED (MAYBE?) WRITER OF HIS GENERATION (OR NOT) FOR CRYPTO, INVESTING, ECONOMICS, TRAVEL, AND ALL THAT STUFF ONE NEEDS FOR SECOND PASSPORTS AND DIGITAL-NOMAD VISAS."

- GOAT CITY DAILY TATTLER & MAIL

A best-selling author and former Wall Street Journal staff writer for 17 years, now living and working as a digital nomad in Europe and writing for International Living magazine and Global Intelligence Letter about travel, investing, crypto, economics, life abroad, second passports, and digital-nomad visas – all aimed at teaching people (particularly Americans) how to pursue a better, happier, richer life living overseas.

Grew up traveling the world with a mom in the airline industry. Nothing like crossing the Andes from southern Chile to southern Argentina as a teen, or getting lost while riding a baggage carousel at London Heathrow when you’re 10, or learning German drinking songs as a 9-year-old in a Frankfurt pub to fuel you’re desire to live globally.

So … I left America in 2018, in pursuit of a better life as a digitally nomadic writer living and working from my base in Europe, and traveling the world.

Best. Decision. Ever.

Touched down so far in 75+ countries on six continents. My interviews have spanned taxi drivers and hotel clerks to central bank officials, corporate chieftains, European parliamentarians … and a former Soviet Politburo bigwig.

Across my many years of writing, I’ve penned a number of books, including The Wall Street Journal’s Complete Guide to Personal Finance and the companion workbook.

For Harper Collins I wrote a three-part family finance series comprised of Financially Ever After: The Couple’s Guide to Managing Money; Piggybanking: Preparing Your Financial Life for Kids and Your Kids For a Financial Life; and Protecting Your Parents’ Money: The Essential Guide to Helping Mom & Dad Navigate the Finances of Retirement.

For John Wiley & Sons, I wrote Love & Money: A Life Guide to Financial Success, which was based on my long-running, first-person column for Wall Street Journal Sunday edition as called Love & Money, which chronicled the nexus of personal finance and personal relationships with family, friends, and colleagues.

For Crown Publishing, I wrote The World Is Your Oyster: Finding Great Investments Around the Globe.

And in the last few years, I’ve self-published three books. Replay: Your Second Chance to Invest in The American Dream chronicles my around-the-world tour of the emerging middle class in developing economies and how investors can profit from that. And I wrote two books on digital nomadism. Into Nomadistan: Finding Success as a Digital Nomad; and The Freelancer’s Guide To: Czech Republic, everything a digital nomad needs to know to begin living and working in one of the best countries in Europe.

"With its compassionate and pragmatic tone, this book is invaluable for newlyweds with stars still in their eyes—and longtime couples struggling to balance the emotional with the financial and ensure a healthy, thriving life together."

"In this lucid investment guide, [Opdyke] advises average investors to bypass Wall Street, avoid domestically held Exchange Traded Funds and American Depository Receipts, and to put their money to work directly in foreign economies.
